Vending Machine Slot Rental

If you have a product you’d like to sell via vending machines, but not enough variety to warrant the rental of an ENTIRE machine, then you can consider renting a slot in an existing machine we are already managing. Here are some FAQs:

1: “I’d like to sell Coca-cola” / “I’d like to sell bottled drinks!” / “I’d like to sell Snickers / Lay’s / Pringles”, “How do I go about renting a slot for these items?”

We are ALREADY selling these items in our machines, so we WILL NOT rent you the slot(s) to sell these exact same items.

We are only offering slot rentals if you are selling something we do not stock. Examples include Pokemon cards, fragrances, toys, specially imported snacks, etc. If in doubt, just check with us first. *You should already be a distributor of these products. Do not waste time/money importing these just to place in our machines, ok? Think of us as just another channel for you to sell EXISTING products in your inventory.

2: “How much does it cost to rent a slot?”

When you rent a slot, you pay us UPFRONT rental and pass us your products (all documented in black-and-white so no worries), and we’ll do the top-ups on your behalf, and pass you the sales proceeds at the end of the rental term.

This means (1) WE NEED TO KEEP THE STOCK and (2) WE NEED TO HANDLE THE TOPUPS. If your item is slim and light (e.g. Pokemon cards), you get preferential rental rates. If your item is heavy / bulky (e.g. 500ml beverage or a 1kg item), there will be no discount.

So contact us only after you’ve decided WHAT you wish to sell, give us the dimensions and weight of the product, and we’ll let you know what is the fee payable.

3: “Do you charge anything else apart from slot rental fee?”

No, we do not. For instance, if you are paying us $100/month for a slot to sell a particular item from your company, we take only the $100 from you. ALL the sales proceeds from that particular slot / product will be given to you at the end of the rental term. We do not deduct any further commissions, etc.

4: “How much do you think I’ll make from renting a slot?”

That’s what everyone wants to know, right? But we can offer no guarantees. How much you make will depend on what you intend to sell. For instance, if it’s an item that is trendy now but hard to find (e.g. Labubu), you could potentially make good money just from selling a few of these, as they are currently being sold for anything between $50 and $65 per piece, with some special ones going at $350 or more.

Example 1:

If you are going to sell a canned beverage (that costs maybe $1.30 or slightly more) from your own brand, then you need to do the math. Say one slot in our machine can stock just 5 cans, and we do topups three times a week, that means that even if your item SELLS OUT every single time, the maximum number of cans we can sell on your behalf is 15 in a week / 60 in a month. And if you are paying $50 for slot rental, and the maximum number of cans sold is 60 in a month, you may not be making money at the end of the month.

Example 2:

If you are selling Pokemon cards, or something of the same size, we can stock 15 of them in a slot. So assuming only one-third is sold each time we go do our topups, that means you sell 15 a week, or 60 a month. And assuming slot rental is $30, and you make $1 profit per pack of cards, you would make $30 profit after deducting slot rental cost.

Please crunch the numbers yourself before contacting us. Thank you very much!

5: “Please provide a list of all the locations your machines are at. I’ll pick where I want to place my product(s).”

This is business-sensitive information that we do not provide to people who are not our existing customers. If you trust us to do a good job with stocking and selling your product in our machine(s), then let us do the work first and be the ones selecting the best machine/location on your behalf.

We provide photo and video proof that the product has been successfully stocked in our machine, and all transactions will be documented in black-and-white, so there’s nothing to worry about.

6: “Your brand new vending machine rental fee is $500. How is this different from a slot rental fee?”

$500 machine rental fee is for the WHOLE machine. You pay us $500 and you have use of our machine for 1 month. You find your own location, stock the machine with your own products, and whatever money you make / don’t make, it is ALL for YOU to keep!

Slot rental fee is typically not so high. It is usually between $60 and $100 per month per slot. In this case, you pass us the products, and we’ll do the restocking on your behalf. Monies collected will be paid in full to you.

7: “How will I receive the sales proceeds at the end of the slot rental term?”

We’ll send you the sales proceeds via PayLah / PayNow within 7 days of the end of the slot rental term. You will need to collect any balance stock within 14 days of the end of the slot rental term. Thereafter, we will dispose of any uncollected items.

8: “How should I pass you the stocks?”

We’ll arrange a meetup, likely in Bishan / Braddell area to collect the stock from you. We will count the items given to us and indicate this in the contract. This whole transaction will be documented in black-and-white, with one copy for you and one copy for us. This ensures we are on the same page when it comes to details about how much stock was given to us, the selling price for each item, the exact rental term start date and end date, and the slot rental fee you have paid to us.

9: “What happens if the stock runs out before the rental term ends?”

Assuming your product is super popular, we will know within one week whether you have provided enough stock to last the whole month. We will ask you for additional stock if we anticipate that there will not be enough. Thus, we will meet up again, get stock from you, count, document it in black-and-white.

10: “Will you be able to provide an update / report on the sales of the item?”

Yes, we will. We can provide a weekly or fortnightly update on the sales of the item. We won’t be able to do daily updates so please do not request for such.

11: “OK if I wish to sell condoms in the rented slot?”

Our machines are mainly in offices and condominiums. Condoms are not exactly suitable for these locations. We would not want to invite complaints from concerned supervisors / managers, or residents who don’t want (young) children having access to these items. We currently do not have machines in/outside hotels, where condoms would be a lot more welcome.

You can stock other products which are unlikely to elicit complaints. Examples include fragrances, imported snacks, toys, IT-related items e.g. headphones, collectibles, stationery, books, etc. If in doubt, just drop us an email at sgvendingmachine (at) gmail (dot) com.
